Their Story
these characters are original characters my friend sam and i based off on ourselves as a spin-off of Hagane no Renkinjutsushi (Fullmetal Alchemists). their names are, quite unoriginally Sam and Raven. their story is that they are the twin son and daughter of renowned alchemists, yet they are unaware of this fact because they were abandoned in our world before they were old enough to even speak. the two were raised by numerous individuals in an old, abandoned church. due to the hardships of World War II, those who took care of the twins were killed. the two had to survive on their own.
like their parents, Sam and Raven grew an interest in alchemy. they would steal alchemy books whenever they had the opportunity and would gather the tools and ingredients they needed for any experimental transmutations they wished to attempt. when the two were experienced enough, they believed they were ready to do a human transmutation. they were aware of equivelent exchange but decided to ignore it.
Sam and Raven didn't lose their bodies or any limbs. instead they created a monster: a homunculus they call "Death." he had the ability to do alchemy, but in order to do that, and in order to survive, he would have to feed off human souls. thus, DEATH.

---

according to the Hagaren world, human transmutation is considered forbidden and a sin. those who attempt it (yes, attempt) are labeled sinners and a damned from heaven. pretty cool concept.

i was looking at my Hagaren necklace one night and for some reason i kept thinking about the Catholic belief of Jesus dying on the cross--people who crucified him believed he was a sinner. somehow the idea hit me. so i drew Raven hanging on the cross for her sin of human transmutation. i kept the cross thing going on, but i thought it would be cool to have her hanging on the Dante cross.

Raven's wearing the crown that we see on the top of the symbol. she's sporting off wings to represent the winged crown. and the snake the curls on the cross is helping hold her up. yay.

i'll probably colour it later. so here's the picture untampered with.
